Blueberry Cheesecake
from Amorino Gelato, London on 20 Nov 2022
Unusually, this milkshake came with a macaroon. I opted for caramel and I thought it was pretty tasty. This isn’t Macaroon Directory though, so what do I know. I thought it paired well with the blueberry cheesecake flavour at least.
The shake itself was thick with a creamy texture, as one might reasonably expect from a shake served by a gelato shop. Flavouring is more subtle though, both the cheesecake bit and the blueberry bit. The flavouring is definitely there but you have to go looking for it while the flavour that stands out the most is just “milk”, which isn’t particularly inspiring. On the upside the gelato clearly contained actual blueberries since I’d occasionally get an identifiable piece of blueberry.
The cream topping is optional and in hindsight I shouldn’t have gotten it. If you really like cream on your milkshakes then maybe you’ll come to a different conclusion but it was significantly thicker than most milkshake-topping cream and really needed spoon, but none was provided. Only a paper straw was provided, although that held up better than I had expected.
I’m giving this a “pretty good” because its an acceptable milkshake (albeit not particularly inspiring) and the added macaroon is a nice tough. If I had a rating between “pretty good” and “disappointing”, I’d give it that just because of the milk flavour.
